Piero Lissoni is Named “A&W Designer of the Year”

With Piero Lissoni, the editors of Architektur und Wohnen have named the 25th A&W Designer of the Year in their anniversary issue. The award is considered one of the most important design prizes in Europe’s magazine scene. With his architectural concepts and furniture designs, Piero Lissoni has been influencing the international design and architecture industry for three decades. The studio Lissoni & Partners, which he founded in Milan, realises for its clients not only interior design projects, construction of company buildings and trade fair stand architecture, but also product and corporate design, following a holistic approach in personal union.

In recent years, Piero Lissoni has attracted attention with a whole series of charismatic international hotel projects and loft-like interior design for yachts. In his impressive product portfolio, the Italian focuses on a characteristic formal language that knows how to combine modern minimalism with timeless grace. In doing so, he has the reputation of not only bringing out the essence of the object in a subtle language of form, but to also give it elegant contours. His portfolio shows him to be a “jack-of-all-trades”. Those who know him personally call him a poet. This year he was appointed Artistic Director of the furniture company B&B Italia. Piero Lissoni is the award winner with the most objects in the series of “AW Designer of the Year” who have been appointed for 25 years.
